Northern Mole Cricket

mole-cricket.jpg

Mole crickets have mole-like front feet, which are used for digging through roots. Northern mole crickets have four of these teeth-like body parts on each leg.

Mole crickets may grow to 2 1/2 inches long and are brown and hairy. The adult mole crickets have wings, which they use to fly rather than jump like other crickets. Because they are a nocturanl insect, they fly at dusk. The adults and nymphs eat seedlings and grasses.
